GA4 Event Tracking Built on a Measurement Plan
We design and implement custom GA4 events for the interactions that matter to you: form steps, CTA clicks, calculators, downloads, video and sign-ups. Each event gets consistent naming, useful parameters and registered custom dimensions. For teams that need answers GA4 cannot give out of the box.

When GA4 Events Cannot Answer Your Questions
Enhanced measurement collects a few generic interactions. Anything specific to your funnel needs events that were planned, named and configured on purpose.
Inconsistent Event Names
Events like form_submit, formSubmit and Form Submission end up in the same property, splitting data and confusing every report.
Parameters Nobody Can See
Parameters sent without registering them as custom dimensions never appear in standard reports or explorations.
Generic Clicks Without Context
A click event that does not record which button, form or plan was chosen tells you something happened, not what it meant.
The Event Tracking Components We Build
We start from the decisions you want to make, then work back to the events, parameters and triggers needed to support them.
Measurement Plan Spreadsheet
Every event, trigger condition, parameter and owner listed in one shared document before any tag is built.
Naming Convention
Lowercase snake_case event names aligned with Google recommended events wherever a standard name exists.
GTM Triggers and Variables
Click, form, visibility and custom event triggers with scoped variables so events only fire where intended.
Event Parameters
Context such as form name, button text, plan type or step number sent alongside each event.
Custom Dimensions and Metrics
Parameters registered in GA4 admin so they are available in reports, explorations and audiences.
Key Event Configuration
The events that represent real business value marked as key events, with duplicates and noise left out.
How a Custom Event Travels Into GA4
Each event follows a defined path from the user action to a report your team can filter and analyze.

GA4 Event Tracking FAQ
Straight answers before you book. Still have a question? Talk to us directly.
What is the difference between enhanced measurement and custom events?
Enhanced measurement automatically collects a small set of interactions such as scrolls, outbound clicks and file downloads. Custom events are defined by you, so they can capture specific actions like a pricing plan selection or a quote calculator result.
How many custom events should we track?
Only as many as you will actually use. We usually recommend a focused set tied to your funnel rather than tracking every click. GA4 also has limits on custom dimensions per property, so planning which parameters to register matters.
Why do our custom parameters not show in reports?
GA4 only shows event parameters in standard reports after they are registered as custom dimensions or metrics in the admin. Data collected before registration is not backfilled, which is why we register them at the same time the events go live.
Can you track forms built with HubSpot, Typeform or Gravity Forms?
Yes. Each form tool behaves differently. Some send a browser message, some fire a callback and some redirect to a thank you page. We choose the most reliable signal for each form so submissions are counted once and only once.
Can these events be used in Google Ads?
Yes. Once an event is marked as a key event in GA4, it can be imported into Google Ads as a conversion action. For lead generation we often recommend pairing this with a native Google Ads conversion tag for more precise attribution.
