Consent Mode v2 and Privacy-Aware Tracking

We connect your cookie banner, Google Consent Mode v2 and Google Tag Manager so every tag respects each visitor's choice, and your analytics and ad platforms still receive the signals they are allowed to use.

02 Why it matters

Why Consent Setup Affects Your Data

Consent decides which tags may run and what they may store. When the banner, Consent Mode and GTM disagree, you either collect data you should not, or lose data you are allowed to measure.

  • 01

    Google Expects Consent Signals

Google advertising features for visitors in the EEA depend on consent signals such as ad_user_data and ad_personalization being sent correctly.

  • 02

    Banners and Tags Often Disagree

A banner can record a choice while tags keep firing, or block tags that were allowed. Both are common and both can be fixed.

  • 03

    Modeling Needs Correct Signals

GA4 and Google Ads can only model unconsented activity when Consent Mode is implemented the way Google documents it.

  • 04

    A Clear Record Helps Later

Documenting which tags run under which consent state makes reviews and future changes far easier.

Consent & Privacy FAQ

What is Google Consent Mode v2?

It is Google's framework for passing a visitor's consent choices to Google tags. Version 2 adds the ad_user_data and ad_personalization signals alongside analytics_storage and ad_storage, so tags can adjust their behavior to each choice.

Do you provide legal advice on GDPR or cookie law?

No. We implement the technical side: the banner integration, Consent Mode and tag behavior. Consent categories, wording and legal basis should be confirmed by your legal advisor or privacy team.

Which consent platforms can you work with?

We work with common consent management platforms that integrate with Google Tag Manager, and with custom banners that can push consent updates to the dataLayer.

What is the difference between basic and advanced Consent Mode?

In basic mode, Google tags do not load until consent is given. In advanced mode, tags load with consent denied by default and send limited cookieless pings until the visitor chooses. We help you pick the approach that fits your requirements.

Will consent change the numbers in my reports?

Visitors who decline analytics or advertising cookies are measured differently or not at all, so reported numbers can change. A correct setup makes sure you keep every signal you are allowed to collect.
